About Total Home Consultants

The inspection team metro Atlanta has trusted since 2002.

A home inspection should leave you understanding the house — not just holding a report. Since 2002, that's still exactly how we work.

Our Story

Built by a construction family. Run like a business should be.

Mike Scheiderich founded Total Home Consultants in April 2002. He grew up in a construction family — his father was a contractor — and took an unusual route back to the jobsite: an Industrial Design degree and an MBA in industrial engineering and operations management, both from Auburn University, then a start as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch before real estate pulled him in for good.

That combination shows in how the company operates. Mike spent his first 17 years in the field before stepping out of the truck to run the company full-time. By 2007 it had already grown into a team of inspectors, and it has run as a true inspection firm ever since — multiple inspectors, dedicated office support, easy scheduling, and systems built around the way real estate transactions actually move. Together, the team has completed more than 15,000 inspections across metro Atlanta.

The philosophy has never changed: find what matters, explain why it matters, and put it in your hands the same day. Buying a home is one of the largest purchases you will ever make — our job is to make sure you make it with all the facts.

How We Work

What every Total Home inspection includes.

Education first

We walk you through how the home works, what to maintain, and what to budget for — not just what's broken.

Multi-hour, never rushed

Thoroughness is the goal, not speed. Clients regularly mention reports running past 100 pages of documented findings.

Same-day reports

Transactions move fast. Your full report — photos, findings, priorities — lands the same day, while many competitors take 24–48 hours.

A walk-through, not a hand-off

Before we leave, we review the findings with you in person, answer every question, and separate the big items from the small ones.

One company, every test

Home inspections, mold, radon, sewer scopes, warranty and pre-listing inspections — one call covers it, instead of juggling vendors.

Findings, prioritized

After thousands of transactions, we know which defects drive negotiations — and we present them objectively, so you can act on them.

Anyone can hand you a list of defects. We teach you the house — so you walk into closing informed, not anxious.

Meet The Team

The inspectors behind the reports

Reviews don't just name the company — they name these four, by name, over and over.

Mike Scheiderich, Founder and Owner of Total Home Consultants

Mike Scheiderich

Founder & Owner

Mike founded the company in 2002 and spent his first 17 years in the field. The son of a contractor, he pairs that construction upbringing with an Industrial Design degree and MBA from Auburn — and a Merrill Lynch start that taught him how big financial decisions should be handled.

These days Mike's job is running the company, not the inspections — making sure every client and every agent gets the same experience he built it on.

Matt Grana, Inspector at Total Home Consultants

Matt Grana

Inspector · 11 Years With Total Home

Matt comes from a contractor's background and has been inspecting with Total Home for over a decade. For many metro-Atlanta agents, Matt is the face of the company — he leads our realtor relationships and marketing.

A Philadelphia-by-way-of-New-York transplant, he takes his homemade pizza dough nearly as seriously as his reports.

Craig Diego, Inspector at Total Home Consultants

Craig Diego

Inspector · 10 Years Experience

Craig believes an inspection isn't just about identifying concerns — it's about helping you understand how the home works, what to watch for, and how to care for it after closing.

Unshakably calm and famously thorough, Craig has a way of taking control of an inspection that puts everyone in the room at ease. His management background sharpened the communication and detail-under-pressure that clients mention by name.

Chris Wolter, Inspector and Builder Program Lead at Total Home Consultants

Chris Wolter

Inspector · Builder Program Lead

Chris brings a deep construction background — years as a project manager in residential construction and the stone and countertop industry — and an enthusiasm for the field that clients pick up on immediately.

He's the most personally requested inspector on the team, and he leads our builder relationships through the Pre-Inspected Homes Program.

A Different Lens

An inspection informed by insurance

Very few inspection companies can say this.

Mike also owns The Scheiderich Agency, an insurance agency next door in Buford. That dual perspective means our inspectors understand not just what's wrong with a house — but how insurers see it.

  • Roof conditions that affect insurability and premiums
  • Water-intrusion patterns that drive the most common claims
  • Defects that create liability exposure for new owners
  • Maintenance issues that turn into denied claims later

★★★★★

“Total Home Consultants, Inc. exceeded all expectations… Chris went above and beyond to ensure we understood every aspect of the inspection, giving us total confidence in our home-buying decision. If you're looking for a trustworthy, top-tier inspection team, look no further.”
